Papoose Re-Useable Nappies are Here!
July 4, 2011 at 11:29 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentOften in any Baby Retailing business, its hard to know what is often a good product and what isnt. In many cases, the best ideas aren’t always commercially viable. When we looked at Papoose, it was one of those products that instantly you saw something worthwhile.
1) Colour. Wow, if only we’d seen Nappies like this before. Such rich colours, vibrant and patterns
2) Price. Seriously the price to buy say 10 Nappies and Inners is so little when you compare how much money people spend weekly on disposable Nappies.
3) Versatility. These are so easy to use, interchange, and re-use. Machine Washable, Hygienic, and with Microfibre Inners… what can you say. Even there is Bamboo Fibre options…
The reality is that the Papoose type product is starting to take the world by storm. It is dynamic, naturally Eco Friendly and above all simple to use

Baby Shower Biscuits
April 1, 2011 at 2:30 am | Posted in (d) Timing & Food | Leave a commentIf you are feeling creative you can have some fun making your own baby shower cookies. A basic biscuit or gingerbread recipe is easy to find on the internet or in the Edmonds cookbook
I made royal icing for the first time recently and even a few simple designs from a novice piped onto homemade biscuits looked very effective!
Royal icing is easy to make, fast drying and is pure white, which I think is why it looks so good. Being white it is also great for colouring.
A basic recipe for royal icing is:
1 egg white (refer to note below)
1 ½ cups icing sugar
½ tsp lemon juice (or cream of tartar)
Ensure your utensils are clean from grease before working with egg whites. Lightly beat the egg white in a mixing bowl. Add the icing sugar one tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition. When the icing reaches the desired consistency for piping, stir in the lemon juice.
Separate your icing into small bowls and add food colouring if you wish.
The amount of icing sugar required may vary depending on the size of the egg.
This makes quite a large quantity of icing so you may want to try using ½ an egg white and adjust the other ingredients accordingly.
Note: with the baby shower theme in mind it occurred to me that it might be safer not to use raw egg white if your biscuits are being served to any pregnant women. The alternative could be to use an instant icing or an egg free royal icing recipe. You could try mixing together 1 cup of icing sugar with 2 tsps of milk (or rice milk or water). Then add 2 tsps of light corn syrup and mix until smooth and glossy. If the mixture is too thick, add more corn syrup.
Look through some of the beautiful blogs on the internet for biscuit decorating ideas – you will definitely feel inspired!
And feel free to share pictures of your own creations with us by emailing them to info@babyshower.co.nz
